New WordPress version 3.3 bring some important changes for my plugin so I release version 1.5.3 early. Everyone who use WP 3.3 RC2 or later, please test the plugin and report if you find anything wrong.

Additionally some small fixes was included like Network activation and new site ( if you like to see plugin active in new created sites, please make network reactivate after update to 1.5.3 ), fix for update setting and roles, caption shortcode fix and etc.

Album gallery has now more option for tune the results. All parameters included in the readme.txt file in new version changelog section.

Update: Picasa change the URL rules and now

  • original image moved to prefix /s0
  • without prefix you can find 512 pixels limited image

You can use the workaround and set ‘Large image size’ to /s0 ( limit by any direction and 0 in the pixels input ) or set you preferred size. Next version will have /s0 as link for big image.

Definitely, I find the way how to make required optimization for my site in simple and beautiful way.

Some time ago I wrote about good optimization, but changes in core kill the idea. I was thinking about plugin to make required things:

  • collect styles/scripts and concatenate them into solid files
  • minify styles
  • translate images to data:uri if possible

Yes, this is not a big deal, but I want to have all of this with more ability more …

wrench here I see WordPress 3.2 and thank you for my users I was noticed very quickly about some problem with my plugin in new version. Here is the fixes to work perfectly with WP 3.2.

I have to say ‘Thank you!’ to all my donators. You are supporting my work and I find that my plugin has some value for people.

Save last state
If album was opened – you will see the album images instead if album’s list.If you change username – you will find the user’s albums next time. And so on.

Recently update version.

WordPress MU support

Now plugin works with sidewide activation. Other blogs in this case receive access to plugin and settings and able to configure parameters. In case of separate activation in the single blogs no different with common WordPress.

Roles support

Now you can define what roles can use the plugin. Internally new capability is inserted and roles just receive or not the capability to use the plugin.
By this parameter you can manage access to plugin for your authors and editors.

User level for Picasa access data

Before access username and private access token was once per blog. Now you can change blog level data store to user defined. And every user can set his own Picasa username and able to ask Google for private albums. Of course, only if administrator alllow access by roles :)

Private albums is now available.

AuthSub interface is used – pretty simple and works method :) I am personally more like oAuth, but do not understand how use application keys, because they linked to site by creation.

Another new feature is reload button in dialog.

I found that Picasa has very big load balancing group – when you add new image and then try to reload album it will appear and disappear about half of hour. Probably before all data is synchronized between all responsible servers. But in most cases image appears by first reload.

Just release new version 1.1

Added:

  • Remove STATIC – should work with old PHP version. Optimize hooks and setting. Keep settings after deactivation.
  • Change Picasa request method. Remove WP cache – changes displayed immediately.
  • Add sorting ( date, title and file name , asc and desc ) for images in the dialog in settings. Without sorting should be displayed as in PicasaWeb.
  • Add ordering for images in gallery ( by clicking )
  • Add Highslide support

First the standard WP feed fetcher has strange behavior and cache – I receive old images and in strange ordering. Replacing to wp_remote_get, which is used internal http class, solve most of the issues. Now new images displayed instantly ( just need to reload dialog frame ) and removed will not show next time. Default order keeps PicasaWeb order, including manual mesh.

By request from Eric T I am adding sorting for the images in the album – date, title and filename. Use it !

And the Highslide … it’s amazing how perfect it show the image. Enjoy !

I have plugin page on the WP site: Picasa Express x2. Thank you to WordPress.org this page almost automatically from repository and have a lot of advantages like tracking system and updating from wordpress installation.

I prefer to see you there time to time – you can subscribe to rss for the category. But you can use the wordpress site to notice me something.
